How to Buy Cannabis Online

Posted October 6, 2021 By Kelly

These days, we buy everything online—groceries, clothes, toiletries, everything. If there’s a barcode on it, you can sell it online. So why would cannabis be any different?

With increased e-commerce demand from consumers and the onset of COVID-19, many cannabis retailers have quickly adapted to offer online sales.

However, if you’re used to buying weed in person, you might have a few questions about how it all works online. That’s where we come in. Whether you’re brand new to weed or simply want to learn more, we’re here to answer all of your questions about how to buy cannabis online.

Why would I want to buy weed online?

Of course, there are benefits to buying cannabis in person, like being able to talk to a budtender or see some of the product before buying, but there are a number of reasons why buying cannabis online is increasing in popularity.

First, it’s plain old convenient. You never have to leave your PJs to find the cannabis products you want. In addition, many people find that buying cannabis over the internet is less intimidating than a retail storefront. You can research each brand on your own time, search multiple dispensaries, and find products that fit your budget without interacting with a single person. Buying weed on a website can also help streamline your purchasing experience. Whether you choose delivery, in-store pick-up, or curbside pick-up, you can usually skip the line, grab your weed and go.

Where can I buy cannabis online?

We make it easy for you to find retailers that carry our products. Head on over to our ecomm store, enter your location, and then click on the “Stores” tab. You can sort by delivery, medical/recreational, and even shops that offer discounts like military and student. If you’re still not finding what you’re looking for, you can also checkout our Store Locator.

If you’re looking to pick up some other brands as well as Glass House, there are a variety of different resources available to purchase weed online, depending on where you live. First and foremost, make sure that you are purchasing cannabis from a reliable, licensed source. Although many local storefronts will have pick-up options, some larger providers like Grassdoor, Amuse, and Eaze are strictly delivery.

You can also use resources like Weedmaps or Leafly to help you find nearby delivery services or retailers that offer pick-up or delivery services. Both these sites can also help you find specific products that you love, like Glass House Farms’ Pre Rolls.

What do I need when ordering weed over the internet?

Many of the requirements for buying weed online are the same for buying it in person. First, you have to be of legal age and have a way to prove it. Many online retailers will scan your driver’s license or passport to make sure you’re 21 or older – or 18 with a valid medical license. Then, they’ll ask to see your ID again when you pick up the goods (no matter if it is delivery or pick-up) to verify that it is indeed the same person—so keep your ID on you at all times. Some dispensaries can also accept a credit/debit card payment beforehand, so be prepared with your cards nearby if that’s your preferred method of payment.

Do I need a medical marijuana card?

Not necessarily. You’ll only need a medical card if you’re shopping at a medical-only dispensary or if you’re looking to buy medical-only products. Medical cards also qualify you to purchase higher thresholds of THC, meaning more products per purchase. The vast majority of storefronts are both recreational and medical or recreational only. That being said, if you have a medical card, it often saves you some cash. Medical marijuana patients often pay less in taxes or get special deals from retailers. If you don’t have a medical card, just look for the words “Recreational” on the dispensary’s listing or website. When in doubt, contact the dispensary ahead of time with any questions.

Can I pay with a credit or debit card?

It depends on the retailer. Since there are a number of banking restrictions on cannabis businesses, not everyone is able to take credit card payments. It’s always safe to have some cash on hand just in case debit or credit is not an option—and if you choose delivery, you’ll be able to easily tip the driver.

Are there discounts or incentives for ordering online?

Sometimes, yes. Many delivery services and retailers offer first-time discounts to get you in the door and referral discounts for sending your friends their way. You can also cash in on specials they may have that day or holiday sales. If you want a deal, you can usually find one online.

In today’s technological world, there are a number of ways to buy cannabis online. Just make sure to grab your ID, get some cash, and do your research to find what works best for you. Happy shopping!
