A Guide to the Ultimate 4/20 in LA

Posted April 14

Your invite to the 2nd annual Glass House Fest awaits!

Each of us observes the arrival of spring in different ways. For some, it’s the start of baseball season. For others, it’s the day the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival drops its lineup. For cannabis lovers, however, the only correct answer can be the high holiday known as 4/20. Coined by a group of NorCal teenagers back in the 1970s, the term would go on to spark a tradition of celebrating all things weed on April 20 that continues to this day.

In fact, in its current form, 4/20 is now bigger and better than ever. Here in Los Angeles, we’re thrilled to be doing our part to add to the vibe by bringing Glass House Fest back for its second annual edition. If a day devoted to comedy, music, culture, art, and all things cannabis sounds up your alley, you can join us —for free! — at Wisdome DTLA.

But what’s an ultimate 4/20 in LA without a curated itinerary to carry you through from wake and bake to night’s end? In hopes of helping you to lock down the perfect schedule, keep reading for our picks on the best plans to pair with an awesome night out at Glass House Fest.

MORNING — Deals, Deals, Deals!

Ready to save big on Glass House flower? 4/20 is a great opportunity to visit local dispensaries in LA for savings and other fun promotions. Set your alarm to get up early and pick a few shops to swing by for the perfect start to your day. Need a suggestion? If you’ve never been to Serra in Beverly Grove, head over and prepare to marvel at their stunning interior, designed by local firm Commune. Other great picks include The Pottery, Illa Canna, and Greenhouse Herbal Center in Hollywood. If you don’t have time for an in-person appearance, don’t forget about the miracle that is legal cannabis delivered straight to your door. Whatever your preference, there’s no better way to welcome the start of 4/20 than by buying some weed!

LUNCHTIME — Keep Your Snack Attack Demons in Check

Regardless of how you may choose to spend the early part of your day, make sure you carve out time for a delicious lunch or special snack to keep you fueled and feeling fresh for the festivities to come. Thankfully, when it comes to filling your stomach, there’s seemingly always a scrumptious spot nearby in Los Angeles. For us, it’s hard to beat the value of a massive pastrami sandwich (with pickles) from Canter’s on Fairfax. Another fitting option? Head to Hollywood, get in line, and start mulling over your choice of fixings at Pink’s Hot Dogs.

AFTERNOON/EVENING — Glass House Fest

Ready for the main attraction? Grab an Uber and make your way to Glass House Fest 2022. To make sure we’re expecting you, you’ll need to be 21+ and RSVP ahead of time. We also recommend you arrive early, as the event is subject to reaching capacity. As your reward for being on top of it, here’s what we have in store for you: one wildly awesome party.

The setting is Wisdome LA, an immersive art park in the downtown Arts District. From 4:20pm to 11pm, we’re transforming the five domes onsite into a main music stage, a comedy stage, a lounge for guests, as well as space for food trucks, an art installation, and sponsored vendors. And we’ve got a lineup just as good as the setting. Get ready for musical performances from Reggie Watts, Duckwrth, Guapdad 4000, and Blackillac. Plus, over at our comedy stage, Trevor Wallace is set to welcome a slew of his funny, talented friends to keep us in stitches all night long.

Oh, and we mentioned it’s free, right? Just RSVP, make plans to secure safe transportation, and let us take care of the rest!

LATE NIGHT — Munchies Redux

If you still have a little celebration left in you after Glass House Fest wraps up at 11 p.m., give your sweet tooth the ultimate gift by taking a rideshare from the venue over to Milk Bar on Melrose. After all, there’s arguably no better way to cap-off the ultimate 4/20 than by enjoying a cone of cereal milk soft serve, right? Come experience some joy by the scoopful and you’ve got the cherry on top of what we think sounds like a perfect day!
